Borough of Sutton

Part of Surrey until the 1963 reorganisation transferred it to Greater London, Sutton is a largely residential borough on the southwestern edge of the metropolis. Its main localities are Sutton itself, Carshalton, Cheam and Wallington, and of these only Sutton and Carshalton have any real "town centre" feel about them. The borough does not have a great deal to offer the visitor save that, being on the edge of open country, it has plenty of green spaces. The banks of the river Wandle, which runs through the borough, are also pleasant. The London LOOP (London Outer Orbital Path) passes through Sutton's southern reaches and for the moment provides the only gallery of images.
